Dear Brockville Community Choir Members and Interested Singers
As we enter our 40th year as a community choir, we are looking forward to starting rehearsals with our Artistic Director Madelyn Mensen and our Collaborative Artist Abe TeGrotenhuis.
The regular Fall Session will start Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025. For returning and prospective members, registration is Wednesday September 3rd and 10th at 6:30pm followed by the rehearsal at 7:00pm. Rehearsals will take place in the church proper each Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
On Sunday November 9th the choir will be performing as part of the community Remembrance Concert at Arts Hub Brockville.
Our Fall Concert will be on Sunday, December 14th, 2025 at St. Lawrence Anglican Church. The Fall Concert features Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit pour Noel and an eclectic collection of works focusing on the events and feelings leading up to the celebration that is Christmas Day. I encourage you to peruse our Artistic Director’s “Thoughts on the Fall 2025 Program” [Click Here].
In our Winter/Spring Session, we are hosting a special concert by the Elmer Isler Singers as our Living Legacy Grant project. The choir will join the Isler Singers for a couple of numbers after spending the afternoon in a workshop with their artistic director Lydia Adams. Please save the date – Saturday, April 18th, 2026 and refer back to this website for further updates and information.
Session rehearsals and the Remembrance and Fall Concert will take place at St. Lawrence Anglican Church, 80 Pine Street, Brockville. Prospective members may attend three rehearsals prior to formally joining the choir.
Membership dues will remain: Individuals at $100 per session and Students – free.
While our rehearsals and concerts are subject to public health guidelines, at this time, all COVID related restrictions are suspended. For members of the choir and audience masking is optional and there are no restrictions on social distancing or vaccination status. However, singers ought not to attend rehearsals if they are ill or have any respiratory or influenza symptoms.
In closing, I hope that this information assists you as you consider returning to or joining the Brockville Community Choir and we look forward to welcoming you.
Hoping you join us,
Barry O’Brien
