WHAT’S HAPPENING

Voices Up!

Come on a Canadian journey by train, canoe, horseback and highway.  With songs from the rainforests of BC to the fishing villages of Atlantic Canada, the Brockville Community Choir will sing a program of all Canadian music on Sunday May 24 at 2 pm at St. Lawrence Church.

In this concert, we will sing music by Canadian composers based on texts by poets such as Pauline Johnson and Emily Carr, as well as popular well known music by composers/performers including Gord Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, Rush, Tragically Hip, Bruce Cockburn, Stompin’Tom, Ian Tamblyn, Oscar Peterson,  and Québecois and East coast composers.  The choir will be accompanied by piano, violin, guitar, bass and percussion.  Tickets $25 from choir members or online at brockvillechoir.ca

It was an enormous pleasure for the Elmer Iseler Singers to come and sing for and with you!

We are so thankful to the Brockville Community Choir for such outstanding hospitality to us all, and for making sure that we all were greeted and cared for in every way once we entered the building.

Special Thanks to Choir President Barry O’Brien, Artistic Director Madelyn Mensen, the BCC Board of Directors and all the volunteers who took such great care of us all.

Thank you all for your wonderful singing. We just loved singing with you and making great music together.

Sending you each our very best wishes for the remainder of your singing seasons, and thank you for singing together with us yesterday. It was a day to remember!

Best wishes from us all at the the Elmer Iseler Singers.

Our 40th Season

Brockville Community Choir turns 40 years old in 2026!

The choir’s founding director was the late Howard Alexander.  Subsequent directors have been Michael Capon, Peter Willsher, Jeff Reusing, Heather Eyerly, Dianne Baird, and our present artistic director Madelyn Mensen.

The choir has been SATB throughout its history, and welcomes singers of all ages and experience without auditions, giving everyone an opportunity to try the music for 3 practices before they make a commitment.  We give two major performances per year, in Spring and late Fall. We also have performed for the community as part of other events, and in schools and retirement homes.  Most seasons the repertoire has been classical, with a few exceptions for Broadway and popular music, and Canadian folk music including some with indigenous roots.

Some of our concerts have themes, such as Music for Gratitude and Peace, Harmonies of Hope, Light within Darkness.  We welcome new choir members, new audience members and sponsors.

A celebratory project for our 40th anniversary will be a workshop (1 pm) with Lydia Adams OC and concert  (4pm) by the Elmer Iseler Singers, entitled Songs for Springtime, to take place on Saturday April 18 afternoon at St. Lawrence Anglican Church in Brockville.  Our next Brockville Community Choir concert, Voices Up!, all Canadian music, will be Sunday May 24, 2026.  See brockvillechoir.ca for further details and tickets information.
