Dear Brockville Community Choir Members and Interested Singers
WELCOME!
We come together to begin our 41st year as The Brockville Community Choir on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at St. Lawrence Anglican Church, 80 Pine Street in Brockville. Our choir is ably guided by Artistic Director Madelyn Mensen and supported by Collaborative Artist Abe TeGrotenhuis.
The Choir Executive is ready to greet returning and prospective members. Registration takes place on Wednesday September 9th and 16th at 6:30pm. Membership for Adults is $100 per session; students join for free. Prospective members may attend three rehearsals prior to formally joining the choir.
Rehearsals take place in the church proper each Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00pm and include warm-ups, sectionals, and full choir practice. Choir members are assisted in preparing for rehearsals by accessing weekly schedules and practice resources from the members only section of the choir website.
Our Fall Concert will be on Sunday, December 13th, 2026 at St. Lawrence Anglican Church. The concert theme is Christmas Then and Now and we will be singing pieces from the 14th century to modern times. Our Artistic Director will be posting a description of the full program on the choir website.
To enable your future planning, our Winter/Spring session begins on Wednesday, January 6th, 2027 and the concert is planned for Sunday, May 16th, 2027. The concert theme is Landscapes and the choir is commissioning a piece about the St. Lawrence River.
As part of its commitment to outreach and collaboration, the choir has opportunities to participate in community events: more details will follow regarding a workshop/choral event on Saturday October 17th, the Brockville Music Festival in April, and potentially, a performance with a professional group in the spring. Stay tuned!
Our rehearsals and concerts are subject to public health guidelines. At any time, members of the choir and audience may choose to wear a mask. However, in the interest of communal well-being, singers ought not to attend if they are ill or have respiratory or influenza symptoms.
